This is when you try to decrease the rank of your competitors instead of trying to increase yours. Pretty dumb technique if you ask me. You only have 1 site to promote, but thousand of site to put down (or at least 10 if you're already in top 10). It is a fighting with windmills. Also there is no 100% proof that such method really works.
Put your efforts into your own website. |

Reverse SEO is an online reputation management (ORM) strategy. It protects your company from negative publicity and rumors that can circulate quickly online.Reverse SEO has become one of the most effective strategies for minimizing the impact of bad publicity within the search engines’ organic listings. It is an Online Reputation Management (ORM) tool of SEO consultants who manage Online Reputation Management. Too often, companies become targets for negative press online.

As social networking sites have become increasingly active, however, the amount of personal information shared on the World Wide Web has trended toward more specific personal details. In addition, photos of events users might have preferred to keep quiet have become increasingly easy to access, and both companies and individuals have come to realize the value in changing the nature of the reverse SEO strategy. |

The reason we use reverse SEO is based upon current societal trends. Many of customers are likely to research your company on Google, Yahoo, or Bing before purchasing a product or service from you. When they find reviews, they tend to believe them. Unfortunately, there are few barriers that prevent people from posting negative reports online about your business. |
