I ran this (free version) a couple of times and it seemed to work - at least I got some reasonable results back. I then added some more keywords, etc. and now it doesn't work at all. I'm not getting back any positions, although it's retaining the previous "best" from the initial tests I did with this package when I first installed it.
Yes I have my google ID correctly assigned; yes the number of results I'm wanting to fetch to determine the position is well above the current ranking of the site for the given term and yes I'm using USA (English) and have also tried with United Kingdom English. I have also tried without using the google API key.
Is this anything to do with the limitation on the number of searches you can do per day with a google API account? |

It seems to be working some now - I wonder - does google limit the number of queries you can perform per hour or something? This might explain it - or rather, if the program actually show an error message if the API returns one, that would also be useful. |

Indeed, Google API has a limitation of 1000 queries per day. Besides that, API is also not very stable in its results, sometimes you get them, next day you don't. Searching without API should resolve this problem. |

Hmmm. When I switch off "Use Google Authentication Key", I just get ".." for position for all my phrases - ie. no results at all! |

What is the number of max links to check? Perhaps you should increase this value. See the Preferences window. |

I set it to check the first 100 results. Tried again today - says "OK" next to each term I'm checking, but still just gives ".." even for terms I know are well within the top 100. Something not right here |

Ok I worked it out. When using google UI, I need to use a certain firewall port at work here and I need to change it to a different one when using the normal html system. It works nicely now.
Please ignore the PM . |

I have similar trouble - doesn't work - but it was firewall problem.
But I have other question - some time for 4-5 from 30 keywords I got short results - I set 50 links in options, but I got only 10 or 20.
Why?
I check these "problem" keywords and start search again.
But can you fix bug? |

Do you search with or without Google API enabled? |

That's an API issue. Searching without API should help.
Google API seems to freeze in a beta stage since 2003. It has many issues which we can not do anything with. |
